I purchased this magnifier for my 91 year old aunt for Christmas. She used it as soon as she opened it and pronounced it, "Wonderful!" The clear plastic frame lets in better light than those with dark frames. She also thought the small area of higher magnification was very helpful.

Here too, you get what you pay for. This was a bit more expensive than some of the similarly sized round units also shown but do yourselves a favor and spend the extra coupla bucks.
While not glass, the optics are excellent. The rectangular shape of the lens is significantly more useful than several of the round ones I own and provides a nice level of magnification that is clear and distortion free.
Compact and elegant looking, the clear frame design maximizes the useable viewing area and the 6X "bifocal window" performs well when needed.
I recommend it unreservedly.

Excellent for the Price May 11, 2010

These work very well for the purpose I use them for. I use them to enlarge images on microfilm. Our local library's reader doesn't have a zoom function. The rectangular shape and the clear edges work much better than the round ones with solid black edge.They're also light in weight.

Excellent clarity and magnification. I like the balance. I just wish it had a soft case to keep it in so the lens doesn't scratch.

This magnifier is practically unbreakable. Even if dropped it would be unfazed. Another benefit I really appreciate is that it is so easy to keep clean. Just soap it up and rinse it clean. It is seamlessly constructed and of enough heft in the weight to feel comfortble and sturdy in the hand. It is well worth the small price. Should last a lifetime with care. It will scratch so treat it with that in mind.
