A very useful and nicely made tool for its price. May 14, 2010

""Beach Bum""
I purchased this particular item, to use when I am doing very close up work on several hobbies of mine. My first,"choice of use", for this magnifier was to use when I am working on the insides of time pieces I repair and restore. The main lens of this tool is just about perfect in magnification power for each "phase" I may go through as I work on repairing and restoring a watch, and/or, clock. The "main", or "first" lens is ideal for working on any piece, as I disassemble it and may be working with very small screws, rivets and clips and I need to see exactly where my hand tools are being placed each time. The "secondary" or "next magnifying range lens" up the magnifying scale, very simply and easily flips down and "snaps-solidly" into place and brings my work much, much, closer to me, which is exactly what I need once inside a time piece's very small and intricate internal parts structure. If I am working on something like a very small lady's wristwatch, I can then go even one step higher in magnification and simply swing down the single "eye loop". I really like the three magnification levels, that this tool provides, all in one unit. Before I purchased this particular tool,it was often required that I "take off, one, magnifying head band and put on another, with higher magnification". Now,I simply have to flip the lenses either up or down, depending on which level I may need at the time. The "side lights" that are mounted on each side of this magnifier, are also very well aimed, and made so they center both beams of light directly in front of my field of vision. They're more than bright enough, without being "glaring", when shone onto brightly polished metals, and/or, wood surfaces. The headband, itself, is very comfortable to have on for long periods of time. Often, when working on a large clock, I can have this magnifier on my head for perhaps 3 hours, or even longer, and I've yet to have it get "too heavy or too cumbersome". to wear for that long. The only reason that I had for not giving this tool a full, five star rating, is I was somewhat disappointed with how, after many times of raising the magnifiers up and down,(when needing them, and then, not needing them as I worked on something), after a very short time, the "pivoting points", or, "hinges", needed to hold this tool in one position became a little "sloppy". Now, after using this tool for only a few weeks, I have to make sure it is raised to a completely vertical position, or it will immediately "flop back down", when I least want/need it to. However, other than that one small problem, all in all,(and especially for its very affordable price), I would still highly recommend this magnifying head band system to anyone who may be looking for an affordable, comfortable, well thought out, magnifying tool.

Clear magnification better than more expensive products Mar 13, 2011

I bought this SE MH1041LC LED Lighted Head Magnifier for one project and find myself using it several times a week. It is fantastic. I find the magnification better and clearer than any other magnifier I have ever tried. The clear magnification is not just at the center in one tiny area but the whole lens! Fantastic. True it is plastic but what do you expect for $10? Still it is extremely well made for $10. It stays on my head just fine. It is comfortable. It doesn't slip. It is adjustable to other size heads when someone else wants to use it. There are two lights on either side each powered by two AAA batteries (batteries not included) that operate independently of each other. When I purchased it I thought I was going to have to use the drop down lens in addition to the jeweler's loupe lens and my reading glasses to read the 14K marking on jewelry and such, but just the one stationary lens on this SE MH1041LC led lighted head magnifier is sufficient. But if I need more magnification there is the attached jeweler's loupe and/or the additional drop-down magnification lens. I can't imagine ever being without one of these. I just sent one to my son as a housewarming gift. If I was helpful in any way, please click HELPFUL below.

Reasonable quality for the price Feb 04, 2008
By Sleepy I would prefer if the lenses were just a little bit further from the eyes. It seems to me that being this close puts a lot of strain on my eyes. However, lenses are decent, you can see clearly trough them. Stereo view area is decent. You have maximum magnification (4.8x) only on one eye (right one, but it looks like that can be easily repositioned to left eye with just a screwdriver).
Head band is surprisingly not uncomfortable (sorry for double negative, but it is exactly that, not uncomfortable. It is not really comfortable either...maybe bearable is the best word) especially from the point of view of what kind of material it is made of (cheap plastic, unpadded, and in hands feels like it will scrape your scalp off). Still, when on head, it is just slightly annoying.
This is my first visor so i can't compare it to something else. Let's just say that this one is usable but i think i expected something more. At least it was cheap so i am more-less satisfied with this purchase :)
