4tired of going to the salon!  Jul 31, 2009 By Jane Lane™ "A Lavish Ravishment"
sometimes I want my hair thinned, but I dont want to have to pay for it. especially if i dont even need a trim or anything. SO I got this instead and it works just my stylists does. As long as you KNOW how to use it, or can have someone you trust to use it, it does the trick. I have really thick big dry hair, and these shears are MUCH sharper on the teeth than I thought they'd be so it works perfect for me. Now I dont see a reason why thin-haired people would need it- however if you do have thin hair and decide to use this, take caution because a LITTLE of this baby goes a long way.

5Great item at a great price.  Sep 22, 2010 By Matthew Gabayan
This is product is great!

I'm a guy with really curly hair and I have been trying to grow out my hair for months, so that my curls will be a lot longer. But whenever I go to the salon to get my hair thinned out, they barely remove enough hair to show much of a difference. Whenever I let my curly hair grow out it always became this unmanageable thick looking afro, but was never satisfied with the way salons thinned out my hair because they always removed too little hair, not to mention they took way to long to do it.

So I decided to invest in a pair of thinning shears and just tried these out a few days ago. I spent about 15 minutes running the shears evenly throughout my entire hair, cutting from the roots and pulling the shears through my hair to life and remove the hair I just cut, and of course rinsing out all the remains. The shears are easy to use, and do the job right. And in just about 15 minutes the bulges on the side of my head were gone and my hair felt lighter and less unruly. When I go to the salon to get my hair thinned out, they normally only use regular shears to thin out your hair, pulling it out layer by layer and carefully cutting in between the layers. It's great that they have the ability to do that, but the problem is it takes way too long to do and because of that (out of my experience) they often do not remove as much hair as I would have liked, leaving my curly head still looking like an afro if it were fully dry and not damp.

I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has curly hair and is looking to grow their hair out. The shears even work well with thinning out bangs too.

Great product.

4Good, Cheap, Thinning Shears  Aug 20, 2010 By E. Miranda Hernandez "Addicted to Amazon"
I recently cut my thick hair very short, and discovered that if I don't thin it out on a regular basis, it sticks out too much on top. I could pay a stylist to do this, but at $20-$30 every two weeks, that would get pretty expensive. These shears are a great alternative.

You might be scared of thinning your own hair. I was at first, but when I saw how the shears worked, I felt better. Since I have a stylist to shape my hair and provide the general cut, I use these in-between cuts to get rid of some of the excess hair. You simply lift a patch of hair, "cut" down, and a few stray strands have been cut. The shorted pieces blend in with the rest of your hair, and are not noticable.

The only thing I don't like about these scissors is that they tend to stick a tiny bit, and you have to hold them at a certain angle to get them to close all the way. Once you get used to them, you can use them pretty easily, but this took me a few tries before I could hold them at the right angle. Otherwise, great shears for the price.

5Certainly did the trick  Apr 25, 2009 By Megan Elliott
I just got these thinning shears yesterday and they worked great! You could thin a little hair or a lot quite easily, they are sharp. I have really thick hair so I went over my hair a few times, but it didn't take long and I love the result. Also I had never cut hair before and it still came out great! [...]

3Not the best for trimming  Jun 09, 2010 By Samantha "Sam"
The scissor was just like what the other reviews said, it is not sharp enough.
I was going to buy it to trim my dog's fur, but I don't think it is even good for my hair.
It's worth the price for trimming your hair bangs.
