great loupe, OK fine print reader Aug 30, 2009
By J. KNOWLES The case is tough and seals up well. Image is bright, sharp, clean, and big! 1.4 inches is almost unheard of at 5-power, but this is an "aspheric" lens. When you hold it up right next to your eye (loupe use), the view is amazing. This is OK as a fine print viewer, and fantastic as a loupe, especially with circuitry or minerals or stamps. The price is good for this lens. Note: lens is molded plastic these days, so clean carefully. Unless you have severe vision issues, this may be too strong for fine print and restaurant use. The distortion can be quite severe at an angle. A 2x magnifier will be more tolerant and clear in that case. Fantastic loupe, though.

Compact yet strong Jan 25, 2008
By T. Dean My husband and I are both visually impaired and we each carry one of these. He keeps it in his pocket at ALL times and I keep mine in my purse. It folds out and fits in your hand so perfectly yet it is as strong as we need. My husband was using his at a restaurant one time and a man asked him how much it cost. My husband told him he needed it, but that he could get one at a stamp shop for $10. The man dropped a $20 on the table! We buy several at a time and end up giving them away because people love them so much. Great gifts for anyone you know who needs that extra ump in vision now and again or for projects.

Bausch and Lomb Pocket 5X Magnifier Feb 12, 2010
By D. Boyd I bought this to view 35mm slides and for general magnification.
I find its field of view too small...needs to be larger.
The glass lens (versus plastic that is most often used in such devices) is far superior, resists scratching and lasts a long time.
CONCLUSION...a larger version (3 or 4 times the area) of this would sell much better and would satisfy most consumers better.

An Excellent Durable Magnifier Feb 14, 2009
By P. Burger
"PBurg"
I have used this magnifier for over 20 years (the same one) and it is very durable and has an excellent lens. I carry it in my pocket every day and it has been dropped many times without getting even a scratch or any damage. The only wear is that it has become very smooth from all the years in my pocket. I bought a second one recently to have as a backup in case I ever lose my original one. I would be lost without this magnifier. Worth every penny!

Bausch & Lomb Pocket magnifier Mar 17, 2011
By J. Hugh Craft Excellent little pocket magnifier. It slips into itself for a safe carry. There are many times in a day when a person needs to see smaller writing more clearly, and this little item does it well. And, the price is very right for what it gives to the owner. It is great for looking at coins, roads on maps, directions which are written too small on containers, old postage stamps, and details in old photographs. It is another great little product found at Amazon.com
