| | Description | New Bausch & Lomb Triple Lens Magnifier. This is a new Bausch & Lomb 5X to 20X triple lens pocket magnifier. By combining lenses, seven different powers are available. The glass lenses provide durability for long life. This loupe has a focal distance of 2" to 1/2" (51 to 13 mm). Two lenses have approximately 13/16" (20.3 mm) diameters and one lens has about a 5/8" (15.2 mm) diameter. | |

Great lens, cheap housing. Compares to others with quality lens but... Nov 25, 2008
By J. Shinn The $20-$25 range, Bausch & Lomb 3 lens magnifier/loupe with a 21mm diameter viewing area works with clarity and performance of nice lenses. The cheap housing however is a major deterrent from this product and justifies the lower price compared to two other loupes which I mention at the end.
Pros: Provided is 5x, 7x and 9x magnification by 3 individual lens. The lens work great individually and at 21mm diameter, it is nice to have a viewing area of that size. The lens also work very well in combination to increase the magnification 5x all the way to 20x.
Cons: The housing is tough but made of plastic. The lens holders are also made of light plastic. The 9x lens housing on mine shows a poor mold and cut and had to touch it up myself, happily it looks and works fine now. Also, there is no lanyard loupe. This is a minor but nice feature to have.
Also considering it is Bausch & Lomb who makes the famous 10x Hastings Loupe, I expected a better housing and now must admit, although they may have smaller diameter lenses, there are others to consider before this one 3 lens magnifier/loupe
Conclusion: For $25 shipped it's not bad at all and the 21mm lens size makes up for it, however if I were to choose again, I might consider one of the more well reviewed Belomo 10x loupe or B&L Hastings 10x loupe in the $30-$35 range:
**Belomo 10x(18mm) loupe w/ nice housing, dis-assembly for cleaning and a lanyard loop**
**Bausch & Lomb Hastings 10x(14mm) loupe w/ metal housing and lanyard loop.**

Bausch&Lomb 5x-20x Apr 11, 2008
By G-man The 3 different lenses are nice, but was rather disappointed to find the housing is cheap plastic (for $24!) instead of metal; and there's no loop on the end to attach to a key-ring as I wanted, to keep with me in case I'm without my reading glasses. ....decided to forego the hassle of returning it. But, to keep at home on a desk or bookcase, it's handy there as well! -GM

comments Jun 15, 2011
By Mohammad Aref Naja lens abberation is minimal when three lenses are used all together, but it lacks magnification marking on each lense as well as a small loop for attachment with a key holder rather than keeping it in the pocket! The casing should have been metal NOT plastic otherwise price has to be reduced to compensate these cons.

I got what I wanted Feb 28, 2009
By E. Ament Okay, I'm visually impaired and needed a magnifier to read small print. The last magnifier I had I lost and I decided I would get the same thing. You can use one or two lenses to read larger stuff and if you get really small print, you can use all three. I wish they weren't so easy to lose! I really don't see anything like this out there that can be put on a chain though. It's affordable at least. One thing. This new one comes with a pouch to put the magnifier in. It used to not have that. That might make it easier to keep track of I guess. I suppose I can put my tiny bluetooth headset in it as well as there is space for it.
Again, does the job. Also, like the pouch. Is about what I paid for it before. Five stars.

Acceptable Jan 10, 2009
By Steven M. The optical characteristics of this item are acceptable given the price. It is unfortunate that there are no markings on the lenses to indicate the magnification power.
