Great for Children and Parents May 19, 2006
By Karl Bielefeldt I had one of these microscopes as a child, and absolutely loved it. It is one of a select handful of childhood gifts that left enough of an impression that I still remember it today.
This microscope is inexpensive, compact, hardy, and easy to use. No messing around with slides and such. You just place the end of the microscope on whatever you want to look at, turn the light on, and focus. I carried this around with me a lot, to look at bugs, plants, the fibers of fabric, my own skin, and whatever else caught my eye. It lasted from when I was 8 until well into high school.
The relatively low magnification makes it unsuitable for serious scientific work, but for the scientifically curious child or adult, this microscope is a must have.

Pocket Microscope Magnifier Nov 11, 2008
By Noelani My fifth grade scientists totally love this product for looking at the class collection of rocks and minerals. The pocket microscopes are very portable which makes observation outdoors easy. Science became much more interesting with tools that are fairly low in cost.

Excellent seller, questionable item. Dec 15, 2007
By Bonny reader First one I got lacked a lightbulb. The seller sent me a replacement, but it shorted out on first use. Seller then sent me a third one which WORKS. I'd say this item is made with poor quality control, but if you get one that works, it's great. The seller "Hydrogardens" deserves a star for prompt free multiple replacement!

excellent product Dec 09, 2006
By D. Anderson I have a different but nearly identical microscope made by the same manufacturer (Great Wall optical). I've had it for a few years and it still works perfectly. It's sturdy, light-weight and super easy to use. I am always amazed by how clear its image is. It also doubles as a good emergency flashlight! This item makes a great gift, that's how I got mine.

Great Stocking Stuffer Nov 18, 2009
By Who Let the Dogs Out? I bought this for a child's stocking stuffer. When I opened it, it looked pretty cheap, so I was surprised at how well it works. I snapped two AA batteries in the toy and tried it out. You must lay the end of the microscope flat against anything you are doing to look at. The view is truly marvelous! Ordinary things become amazing. For example, when I looked at a tablecloth, you could see the fibers in the threads. I couldn't put it down. This is sure to be a delight for any child. Only time will tell how durable it is.
