5a great little light  Aug 09, 2010 By L. Geeslin
I am completely sold out to lantern/flashlights as half the time when I need a light I need to use both hands with the light acting as a lantern and resting on a table top etc. At the same time I am usually indoors and not needing a lot of light. This is as compact as you can get in this style and yet the 26 lumens is quite bright enough for what I need, namely lighting a room or a tent in India when the power fails! The size is a great improvement over the old Energizer that I have had for years; that lamp was way too big and with much less light because of the old incandescent bulb. The image online looked like the construction might be subpar but that is not the case. This thing is solid in every respect, very well built. The lanyard and carabiner that come with it will be very handy for hanging it overhead and the "lever" off/on switch on the end of it will definitely not accidentally turn on in your bag while you are traveling. The "lever"is like a pie-slice tapering to a hinge in the middle of the end of the lamp. You rotate it about 40 degrees for off/on and it is flush with the end of the light, sort of like it is in the pie pan with the rest of the pie! Very hard for anything to accidentally hit it and it is a bit stiff to turn. The trade-off is not having to worry about pulling out your light and finding the battery dead.
Very well designed and manufactured.

5Great toolbox/glove compartment/camping light for the price!  Sep 13, 2010 By Colinsdad
As a "flashlight geek", I was really not expecting much from this item- I just wanted something cheap that could bridge the gap between my regular mega-output LED R5 and Incandescent flashlights and my camping lanterns. This light definitely puts out a respectable amount of light from one AA (and no, I wasnt going to chance using a 14500 cell to see if I could push more lumens out of it), and the lantern function certainly works pretty well for the small size of the reflector!! The people that have used it found the lantern function "really neat" in how you slide it open or closed. The light certainly has a decent heft to it and seems fairly well made for what I paid for it. One caveat- this is NOT a "heavy-duty" light by any stretch of the imagination!! The plastic tail clip that attaches the carabiner to the light has come off a couple of times. That being said, the times it came off were because the person who used it panicked and yanked it off their belt loop....certainly NOT the lights fault. Also, it is fairly weather resistant, but NOT waterproof!

Bottom line: a great "all around" light that I think would be great for someone like a Cub/Boy Scout, hunting, nightfishing or any outdoor activity where a light is needed that can "do a little bit of everything". It also runs well off a plain old AA cell- VERY handy in that you dont need some weird "exotic" or high price battery (e.g. a CR123). It is also fairly compact, although I wouldnt call this a true "pocket light" (see recommendation for a "true EDC" below). My Neiko 2-in-1 resides in my glove compartment, as I have found it very handy as a "back-up light" for general area lighting and auto work with the lantern function.

As an aside, my EDC (Every Day Carry-pocket light) is this gem:http://www.amazon.com/Titanium-Innovations-IlluminaTi-Flashlight-Lumens/dp/B0035HB49G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1284355706&sr=8-2

4Nice Light  May 09, 2010 By Michael Clarkson "Michael"
This is a very good light there are better but for the price you can't beat it. The lattern feature is very nice!

5A Bright Idea  Dec 21, 2010 By Daniel W. Wright "chspurgeon"
This little light, lite, treat is a power mizer. It offers a direct beam or a lantern style of illumination. It requires only one AA battery and the LED bulb will run forever! The tether and carabiner clip helps you keep track of where you put it. Get several these and keep one by you bed, in your glove box in the car, first aid kit, part you travel gear and so on. Light up someone's life by giving them as gifts for birthday's, anniversaries (accompanied by Debbie Boone's "You Light Up My Life"), Christmas gifts or even as a "practical" gag gift. You will be glad you did.

4Nice Compact Utility Light  Oct 17, 2010 By Portezbie
I just received it and I am quite pleased with it. I was hoping it was all aluminum but it seems to be mainly plastic with metal plating. It still has a good heft to it and feels solid. Performance wise it is great. Nice focused beam that really gets the most out of its modest 26 lumens and uses some kind of optic for a smooth hotspot. As a lantern it also performs well, dimly lighting up an entire room good for moving around a dark tent or to read by. Tint is a nice cool white, which is a nice surprise from a nichia led.
When I got this light it was on sale for 10 bucks and although it is a nice light it has since gone up to twenty bucks, which i do not think is worth it.
